Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Frequently Asked Questions

Before Requesting the Service… These are quick answers

We have gathered the most frequently asked questions to help you understand the appropriate service before contacting us or requesting a test.

01 What is the first service I need before construction?

It usually starts with soil investigation or soil testing, depending on the nature of the project and the consultant’s requirements, as these help understand site characteristics before design or execution.

02 Does ProLab provide on-site testing or laboratory testing only?

We provide both. Some tests are performed in the laboratory, while others are conducted on-site, such as field soil tests, concrete testing during casting, asphalt core testing, and certain NDT tests.

03 Do I only need concrete testing during casting?

No. Concrete can be tested during casting through slump tests and sample collection, and after hardening through cubes, cylinders, or core samples. Existing concrete structures can also be evaluated using NDT methods.

04 What is the difference between soil investigation and soil testing?

Soil investigation identifies the site’s soil layers through drilling and sampling, while soil tests measure the properties of the samples, such as density, moisture content, CBR, permeability, gradation, and Atterberg limits.

05 Can more than one service be performed for the same project?

Yes. Many projects require more than one service, such as soil investigation before execution, followed by concrete, aggregate, and asphalt testing during the construction stages.

06 Is the report suitable for the contractor or the consultant?

Yes, the report is structured to be clear and suitable for use by the responsible technical party in the project.
